How To Prevent Yellow Teeth

Preventing Yellow Teeth in The Future..

Yellow teeth can be a thing of the past as long as you work at keeping them white. Once you have selected the teeth whitening product best suited for you, it is important that you maintain those pearly whites.

The worst thing is finally getting over the embarrassment of dingy yellow teeth just to find yourself back there again after spending money and time on getting them nice and white.

Some of these tips may seem obvious but there may be some you have not considered. To prevent yellow teeth, you must:

  • Use a straw when drinking stain causing liquids such as: coffee, tea, soda, or wine
  • Refrain from stain causing foods such as tomato sauce or berries.
  • Quit smoking or oral forms of tobacco
  • Drink water after consuming acidic foods and drinks to dilute the affect of acids on your tooth enamel

Of course most of us love things like coffee and tomato sauce on a delicious pasta dish, who doesn't? Or, you may not be ready or willing to cut out nicotine and/or tobacco quite yet. You do not have to cut these things out completely. If you don't, you can still prevent yellow teeth by brushing and rinsing (preferably with mouthwash) after meals with stain causing elements such as these.

If you do not want to give these things up, simply carry a small container of mouth wash with you and rinse as necessary. Also, never forget to brush and rinse at night time. Most of us brush in the morning but lots of us are not nighttime brushers and rinsers.

Although not very common, yellow teeth can also be the result of an underlying medical issue, that once corrected, can limit yellowing in the future.

These steps may seem extreme and annoying but will pay off handsomely in the end - no pun intended!!!
